Miho-no-Seki is a town located at the easternmost tip of Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. It is a cape surrounded by the Sea of Japan to the north and Miho Bay and Nakaumi to the south. This region is known as a special place where gods from the Izumo mythology, the beautiful sea, and people who preserve traditions coexist.
Izumo mythology refers to legends and stories of gods set mainly in the Izumo region (now the eastern part of Shimane Prefecture) within Japanese mythology. These myths are recorded in ancient texts such as the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki.
To visit Miho-no-Seki, it is convenient to use public transportation or a rental car from Yonago Kitaro Airport or Izumo Enmusubi Airport.

During the Edo period, Miho-no-Seki thrived as a waiting port for Kitamaebune trading ships, with as many as a thousand ships coming and going in a single day. Remnants of that era can still be seen in historical sites such as “Aoishidatami Street,” Miho Shrine, and Miho-no-Seki Lighthouse, which are scattered throughout the area.

Passing through Aoishidatami Street, you will reach Miho Shrine.
At Miho Shrine, Miko Mai (sacred dance performed by shrine maidens) is dedicated twice daily, at 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM.
Visitors are welcome to watch as long as they do not disturb the ceremony.
